Anet Benardete, MA, RCC is a registered clinical counsellor with an extensive background as a youth and adult psychotherapist. She is a member with good standing in the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She holds a Masters in Psychotherapy from the Mexican Psychoanalytic Association and has completed in Canada her post-graduate training in trauma-focused treatments including MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction), DBT (Dialectical behavioral therapy), expressive and somatic therapies. With additional training in postpartum mental health and parent-child attachment-based play therapy.
At the beginning of her career, she worked as a School Counsellor, and six years later she joined a non-profit agency providing services for families and parents looking to address challenges in family life. She supported parents in developing strategies to cope with crises and life stressors. Over the last nine years, Anet has built collaborative relationships with her clients in her private practice and within institutional settings. Enabling them to overcome obstacles by promoting self-awareness, empowerment, healthy coping skills, and resilience.
Anet specializes in working with anxiety, depression, physical pain, and post-traumatic symptoms. Combining a wealth of different techniques to help connect deeper with her clients on an intra-personal level with a focus on creating a safe environment where clients can feel comfortable being vulnerable and empowered to transform challenging situations. Anet provides counselling in English and Spanish.
